The Chosen Series

Updated: Jul 1, 2022

With Easter now in hindsight, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about the life of Jesus.

To anyone who is a believer, whether you have been for years or mere months, I’m really excited to say that I’ve had the opportunity to watch a series called The Chosen.

What Is The Chosen?

The Chosen is the first multi-series based on true stories of the life of Christ. It is a completely crowd funded project, so I’m going to be honest and say that I was unsure on how the quality would be. I just heard that there was a series about the life of Jesus and I was intrigued.

Well, let me start off by saying my doubts flew out the window! The production, camera work, and acting is all spot on.

Overall I’ve been so amazed and blessed to watch a show about Jesus that is told from the perspective of people that saw him and knew him while he still walked the earth in the flesh. This is not some fluffy show about fake people. It has deep-rooted emotional gravity and feels historical and real.

The characters in each episode, who followed Jesus, were real people with very real struggles. The Chosen portrays all of this beautifully. It feels so relatable.

Why I Love The Chosen

I see so much of my own doubts and issues reflected in people like Simon and many others who followed Jesus. But also, I’ve found that just like in the series, when Jesus comes on the scene and speaks, everything changes.

I’ve never been so encouraged in my faith while watching a show! To picture myself among Jesus while he taught, or seeing him laughing and loving sweet children….. Oh how that warms my soul. To remember how Jesus used people you would never expect, and knew that even the things we consider mundane are done for His glory.

The Chosen has brought more realization to the fact that motherhood has such a huge weight, and we are called by God to raise up faithful believers in Him. You get glimpses of this importance throughout, among so many other ways of life.

I really cannot fully express the joy I had watching this series. There is absolutely no other TV show or movie that is faith based, and can also match the quality of The Chosen.

It brings me so much peace that we can watch this with our entire family, and it’s safe. You honestly can’t do that with many TV shows these days, so I’ve become so appreciative when I find good quality content of this magnitude.

Season 2 of The Chosen Is Here!

My husband and I finished the first season in just a few days, and are so excited Season 2 premiered Easter weekend!!

How To Watch The Chosen

The best way to watch The Chosen is through the app, which is super user friendly.

My husband and I cast it onto our smart TV straight from the app. If you’re not watching it on a TV that’s okay too. It’s available right now in the app store so you can snuggle up with your family and watch on your computer or tablet!

One of the best parts about The Chosen app and show... Is that it is completely free! I was so surprised that something so high quality didn’t come with some sort of paid subscription. But there’s no high price tag. The production company is just passionate about the content they are putting out and want to share it freely with everyone.

The Chosen is Historically Accurate

Whether you are a person of faith, or just someone who appreciates history and genuine storytelling, you will definitely enjoy this series. I appreciate so much that it is very historically, and biblically sound. I’ve found often that television shows and movies put out normally are not theologically accurate, and that has always been so disappointing to me. The story of Jesus is filled with so many wondrous things, so why not just use the facts we have?

Well guess what? The Chosen has absolutely succeeded in doing just that. Not only is the quality of the acting and filming top notch, so is the story telling! The way this show was written and filmed makes you feel as if you knew these people from the Bible so deeply. You can relate with their fears, hesitancies, joys, and sorrows. It’s bringing to life what these followers of Christ may have been going through, or thinking.

I feel sometimes when we read the Bible we can forget those small things, and often feel we can’t relate. For me this was absolutely brought to life. It had me longing to be closer to Christ, just watching this show...

I’ve been a believer almost my entire life so for this series to just get me even more excited about Jesus is one of the many reasons I’ve loved it so much. It had me laughing one minute, and crying the next.

Why You Need The Chosen

No matter where you are in your life or what your beliefs are, I feel you can relate to this series in more ways than you may think. You won’t regret watching this, and I know that there is at least one character you can relate to or even a scenario that may bring you comfort that you are not alone in your struggles. I love that I could be reminded of my faith, and the sacrifices Jesus made for me on such a deep level all while enjoying this series. It’s an absolute must watch!
